about a Fix for playing mp4's ...
assuming you are running Windows... go to "
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ACE_Mega_CoDecS_Pack.htm", and get. It's about the greatest pack of codecs I've ever found. It also comes with Media Player, a player with the codecs built in, and it plays mp4's great. Also plays about any other kind of video file, has full screen, pan and scan, resize, and is great player! Also there are so many codecs out there, this will give you probably every codec you could ever want.
Know what you mean, personally I don't care for mp4, or Divx, 3ivX, etc. mp4 has a weird compression in the audio, and DivX, 3ivX, etc., sells their codec3, and codecs should be free! My fav for saving digital films is XviD, great quality and small size.
Hope the above helped you out.
